KSEC Music Therapy Services was established to provide a variety of music therapy services in individual and group settings in the Butler County, PA area.
Kathryn Eberle Cotter, MA, MT-BC, MFT earned her Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University completing clinical hours with older adults with dementia, hospitalized children, adults in a psych hospital, incarcerated teens, and children with developmental delays and autism. She completed an internship with Hospice, Inc. in Poughkeepsie, New York providing services at bedside, in hospitals, in nursing homes, at memorial services, and in bereavement support groups.
Since passing her board exam in 2012, Kate has provided music therapy groups for children in behavioral support classrooms and as a bilingual mental health counselor for juvenile sex offenders. In her work with juveniles she developed and implemented a group music therapy curriculum that she presented at the MAR AMTA Conference in Harrisburg, PA in 2016. Kate also began working as a volunteer facilitating addiction recovery groups and spouse and family support groups from 2016-2020.
What she learned in her work propelled her to pursue further education. She completed a Master of Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University in 2019 and the required course work to pursue a license in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seton Hill University in 2020. During this time, Kate was also the Clinical Director of Youth Mentoring at her local YMCA responsible for therapeutic support groups for youth ages 8-15, regular meetings with the youth’s family, and the training and supervision of community volunteers and college student participants.
Kate is currently practicing independently through KSEC Music Therapy Services in the Butler County and surrounding area.
